Otok Kolocep
My mother was a first-generation daughter of Croatian immigrant parents. We have visited there and developed a relationship with family members there. I have come to love the country of my mother’s memories. This painting is of Otok Koločep (Croatian for Koločep Island), an island just off the coast of Dubrovnik in southern Croatia. The coast is rocky. The water is clear and warm. I did drawings of the island while kayaking around the island. I was drawn to the striking light making a wedge of sunlight on the cliffs of the coast above me.
The painting is 10x14 inches. It is matted and framed. The framed size is 17x20.
This work is currently only available through the Alma Gallery in Provo, Utah.
